UTEC’s mission is to be a youth-led safe-haven for youth development and grassroots organizing. Serving over 1,500 youth annually and over 150 teens every day, UTEC provides a safe place of belonging for local youth of all backgrounds. UTEC emphasizes the holistic development of Lowell’s young people, ages 13-23, particularly those most often overlooked and labeled as “at-risk.” UTEC connects with these young people through intensive street outreach, fosters development of their unique strengths within a youth development framework, and creates opportunities for them to become empowered agents of social change in the community and leaders in their own personal lives.
This year, we have two new projects that could benefit from the skills of a VISTA. First, as our organization continues to grow, we have a recognized need to devote more resources to cultivating individual donors. As a member of the Development Department, this VISTA would build capacity by developing an individual donor database that will track all donor touches, the success of each, and the patron funding priorities of if available. In addition, this VISTA would help identify technological enhancements to our fundraising activities.
The second VISTA position is an evolution of a current position. This Media Liaison VISTA would serve as the primary contact for multimedia inquiries from our partner the Lowell Telecommunications Corporation (LTC) and other non-profit organizations. Additionally, this Vista would create, edit, and manage a video library for UTEC, including past and future events and footage of our programs, and create several PSA’s and promotional videos from said footage. Each in their own way will serve important roles in our organization and develop infrastructure to help us succeed long after they depart.
