The Mission of ZUMIX is empowered youth who use music to make strong positive change in their lives, their communities and the world. Over the last 15 years, ZUMIX programs have addressed the cultural and social needs of East Boston through music training programs. Programs include songwriting, music technology, instrumental and theory lessons. We have an active community arts program that provides free concerts and have developed a number of music ensembles that perform throughout the city. ZUMIX-trained youth provide year-round technical staffing for City musical events. We have also provided art lessons in our space.
Over the last 3 years, the ZUMIX mission of positive personal and city-wide change has become manifest in the creation of ZUMIX Radio. Radio staff have provided youth and adults with training and exposure to technology, media education and journalism training and provided music and cultural programming that reflect the diverse cultural and musical needs of the population.
