DOM is a unique, new kind of user-driven Public Access Television Station, airing on three channels throughout the Denver metropolitan area. Like most Public Access Stations, all programs aired on our channels are produced and submitted by the Denver public, with studios, editing stations, and field equipment available to film, edit and broadcast their shows. Unlike most stations, our entire operation is run on open-source software, with the community in the driver's seat. Viewer feedback via web, email, and SMS/text determines our programming schedule, with the most popular shows getting the best time-slots and most repeat airings.

Deproduction has recently been charged with the task of making our model available for replication across the nation at struggling or out-dated Public Access TV stations, Community Technology Centers, and Community Media Organizations facing reduced support from the government and Cable Providers.

We are building a team of Drupal developers to complete the open-source tool-set for bringing Public Access TV stations into the Net2.0 generation, while working to connect stations through technology in a cooperative network capable of leveraging the best of tens of thousands of hours of noncommercial user-generated media produced every day.

The primary tasks in the initial phase of this effort will be to work with the station users, to understand and document challenges encountered while accessing our new services and systems, and to develop and document new solutions that make our resources and systems more accessible, effective, and user-friendly.
