Reworking old websites
I am currently reworking an old website for HPP, Helping-SF. This website is meant for low-income families and case managers. In it's current form, the website is very disorganized both in terms of content and also in terms of pages and locations. There are numerous broken links, orphaned pages and older versions housed within numerous local locations. Although I have some experience with dreamweaver, I have never moved an existing site to a new location. I am not sure if it would be better to work with the existing local files and reorganize that way or whether I should migrate the site to a local folder and start fresh. Any suggestions? …read more
Information about Samba
In our teleconference today, John mentioned that he was installing Samba on workstations for his position. I offered to find documentation to help him out if he needed it. This dovetails nicely with my responsibilities, as I was able to post the resources I found onto Samba's page on the Social Source commons website. Social Source Commons
I just wanted to give a plug for Social Source Commons, the project I will primarily be working on here at Aspiration. We're developing this website so that non-profits can find out information about various software tools of all stripes. Ideally, this website will be a source of information about new products and upsdates to existing products, as well as pointing to help and documentation about products. Hopefully, the content will be user supplied and maintained, with minimal input form us. It's still in the Beta testing phase, so we could always use some new eyes to look at it and try it out. …read more
