Month 2: Out in the community already (“Hi public, we’re the media… but you can trust us.”)

I am submitting two reports at once this time. The past two months were so busy that there was little time to reflect or to write about what was going on. …read more

Updating Listings

I have a long project right now of verifying that the resources listed on each of the 37 sets of county listings have the correct phone number and website, if any. This is one project I'm enjoying because I like doing Google searches and reading about the organizations I research. …read more

Last Three Months

So I'm in my last three months here as a VISTA, things are really winding down. It's a lot different being on my own, the other VISTA Kevin ended his VISTAship 2 months ago but he had been working here pro-bono until he found a job (he just got one as of last week as a community development planner for the Human Services Alliance). …read more

Disclaimer: The following CTC*VISTA work product requires several hours per week of grueling 1-on-1 meetings with super-opinionated people, endless hours of preparation for grant reports, and a schedule that is nearly impossible to share with any other VISTA project. Do not try this at home...(or a host org without an incredibly supportive staff!) …read more
